Sugar coated tablets - 10 mg
Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker.
It inhibits the calcium ions flow through the cellular membrane. Nifedipine decreases the myocardial oxygen demand. It is a peripheral and coronary vasodilator, but, unlike the other calcium-channel blockers verapamil or diltiazem, has little or no effect on cardiac conduction and negative inotropic activity is rarely seen at therapeutic doses. Nifedipine has no antiarrhythmic activity.
Nifedipine - sugar coated tablet 10 mg is used in:
• angina;
• Raynaud's disease;
• hypertension.
Nifedipine - sugar coated tablets can increase the risk of serious heart problems in patients with hypertension or angina. Hence, Nifedipine - sugar coated tablets are only used in these patients if no other treatments are appropriate.
