Vaginal ovules - 100 mg

Mikonal contains the active substance miconazole nitrate which is an imidazole antifungal with similar activity to that of ketoconazole. In vitro, it also has some activity against Cladosporium, Madurella, some Phialophora, Pseudallescheria boydii and gram-positive bacteria including some staphylococci and streptococci.

A great number of fungi sensible to miconazole can be inhibited in concentrations of 2 mcg per ml or less.

Small amounts of miconazole are absorbed through the skin or mucous membranes when it is used locally, as cream, solution or vaginal ovules.

Mikonal is used in vaginal and vulvovaginal mycotic infections caused mainly by Candida. The symptoms of this infection include itching, redness and white vaginal discharge. Ovules destroy fungi that cause these infections and some bacteria, which are also present.

Nebiol contains the active substance nebivolol hydrochloride, which is a cardioselective beta-blocker (i.e. with a selective action on the cardiovascular system).

It exerts a dilating action on blood vessels, which contributes to lower blood pressure.

It also prevents increased heart rate and controls heart pumping strength.

Nebiol is indicated for the treatment of:

  • essential hypertension (high blood pressure);

stable mild or moderate heart failure in addition to standard therapies in patients aged 70 years or over.

Neocil contains the active substance ciprofloxacin (as lactate). Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone family. Ciprofloxacin works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It only works with specific strains of bacteria.

Adults

Neocil is used in adults to treat the following bacterial infections:

  • respiratory tract infections;
  • long lasting or recurring ear or sinus infections;
  • urinary tract infections
  • genital tract infections in men and women;
  • gastro-intestinal tract infections and intra-abdominal infections;
  • skin and soft tissue infections;
  • bone and joint infections;
  • anthrax inhalation exposure.

Ciprofloxacin may be used in the management of patients with low white blood cell count (neutropenia) who have a fever that is suspected to be due to a bacterial infection.

If you have a severe infection or one that is caused by more than one type of bacterium, you may be given additional antibiotic treatment in addition to Neocil.

Children and adolescents

Neocil is used in children and adolescents under specialist medical supervision to treat the following bacterial infections:

  • lung and bronchial infections in children and adolescents suffering from cystic fibrosis;
  • complicated urinary tract infections, including infections that have reached the kidneys (pyelonephritis);
  • anthrax inhalation exposure.

Neocil may also be used to treat other specific severe infections in children and adolescents when your doctor considers this necessary.

Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker.

It inhibits the calcium ions flow through the cellular membrane. Nifedipine decreases the myocardial oxygen demand. It is a peripheral and coronary vasodilator, but, unlike the other calcium-channel blockers verapamil or diltiazem, has little or no effect on cardiac conduction and negative inotropic activity is rarely seen at therapeutic doses.

Nifedipine has no antiarrhythmic activity.

It widens the main coronary arteries and coronary arterioles, both in normal region but also in ischemic ones and is a strong inhibitor to their spasms. It lowers blood pressure at rest and at a certain level of stress. This is realized by widening peripheral arterioles and reducing total peripheral resistance.

Nifedipine 10 mg sugar-coated tablet is used in:

  • angina;
  • Raynaud's disease;

Nifedipine sugar-coated tablets can increase the risk of serious heart problems in patients with hypertension or angina. Hence, Nifedipine sugar-coated tablets are only used in these patients if no other treatments are appropriate.

Adrenaline is an endogenous substance that is produced in the adrenal medulla and has important physiological effects. It is a potent agonist at both alpha and beta adrenoceptors, although the effect on beta adrenoceptors is more marked, particularly at lower doses.

 The major effects of adrenaline are dose-related and include:

dilatation of the bronchi, narrowing of blood vessels, increased heart rate and contractility (positive chronotropic and inotropic effect) and stimulation at central level. Adrenaline is a histamine antagonist. It is used for the treatment of life emergencies.

Adrenaline is used in acute allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock.

It is also used in advanced cardiac life support.
